Breeding Program
The Heavensgate
breeding program has produced purebred registered arabian horses for over twenty
years and has focused on the concentrated
bloodlines of Huckleberry Bey V, Desperado V, Mosketan V, Barbary and Bask. Natural
breeding has been popular at Heavensgate and has resulted in a high rate of
conception. Natural breeding allows for the stallion and mare to live
together, eat together and become both friends and lovers. The stallions learn to be well mannered
and patient. The stallions and mares become so relaxed and happy that when
finally separated they will continue to nicker at each other like old friends.
The lesson learned is that patience is a virtue in all
aspects of horse handling and horsemanship at Heavensgate.
Living together above are the stallion, Integrity Bey and the beautiful mare Calamity Rose (Stampede Bey by Mosketan V and Calamity May by Bask Legend). Result of this union was a beautiful colt named Stampede Energy who is growing rapidly into a gorgeous riding horse prospect with a long slender neck and beautiful floating movement.
At Heavensgate, we bred the beautiful black bay Desperado V granddaughter, Calamity Belle (Hired Gun by Mor Chaffona, a Huckleberry Bey daughter) to the stallion, Bask Power. Calamity Belle foaled a beautiful filly named Heavens tu Betsy.
On the third day after her birth, Calamity Belle and Heavens tu Betsy are moving out in the round pen. Foal imprinting including picking up feet has been done on each day since birth. Especially important is the catch, hold and release where the timing of release is as soon as no sign of resistance exists. Often when the release is soft, the foal will choose to stay with you and so it goes with the training of all horses, young and old. Heavens tu Betsy is pictured below sixty days later, another gorgeous filly produced by the Heavensgate Arabian Farm breeding program.
