Heavensgate Arabian Farm

As the fires were burning across the mountains directly to the east of us, a great wind rose out of the east and blew toward Heavensgate. As I looked into the sky and prayed, it was as if a mighty hand reached out and suddenly the winds changed, sending the fire to the northeast. I believe that miracles really happen and my destiny as a guardian horsekeeper has again been reaffirmed under the direst of circumstances.
Praise the Lord! All of our horses were blessed once again here at Heavensgate. Thanks to the Lord for all of our good fortune and all of us whose lives have been touched by these wonderful creatures. Generations will live and play with our horses in the green fields of our Lord for all eternity.
The economic recession has exacted a huge toll in the form of widespread unemployment throughout the land. Home foreclosures started in 2008, have continued through 2012 and are unprecedented in the past history of the United States. Let us all hope and pray that horse lovers throughout the land will have the strength and perseverance to weather the financial storms. The last several years have tested the financial ability of the best breeders to maintain breeding operations and like many other financial astute breeders, Heavensgate has halted any new breeding until economic conditions improve. At Heavensgate, we will continue to maintain our Stallions in anticipation of the resumption of future breeding.
Prices have never been lower to acquire beautiful Arabian purebred bloodlines. If there was ever a time to buy, it is definitely now. Let this be an invitation for you to make an offer for anything you like here at Heavensgate and I will do everything I can to make your wishes come true. I want you to have a horse that has been handled properly throughout it's life, one that you can depend on to not let you down.
A word of caution about the numerous horses that are being offered for free. Free horses are given without guarantees, without registration papers, without soundness or health checks and have sometimes been improperly trained or even abused. Remember the old adage "Never look a gift horse in the mouth". Finally, it costs just as much to feed and maintain a "free" horse as it costs to maintain a well bred, registered purebred Arabian.
Heavensgate Arabian Farm is located in the center of the Crown Valley at the 3000 foot elevation in the high desert community of Acton, California. The farm is located 1 hour north of Santa Clarita. Heavensgate Arabian Farm is a peaceful place to visit, surrounded by the Angeles Crest mountains which rise above the valley floor to above 5000 feet. Snow falls in winter, poppies and yucca bloom in the spring with hot days and long cool nights during the summer. Arabian horses truly thrive in the mild climate of California. Pictured to the right above is the stallion Stampede Power with the beautiful mare Serenity Rose. The result of this union was Heavens Bouquet (see Recent_Foals). See Breeding Program for further discussion of Natural breeding methods used at Heavensgate Arabian Farm.
Drifter V
(Huckleberry Bey V and Daraska) and Gary working on getting another one started
in one of the round pens at Heavensgate. Yes that gorgeous little 3 month old
colt black bay colt with the four white socks purchased years ago at one of Sheila
Varian's open houses resulted in a 16 hand gelding who never seemed to stop
growing. Drifter's duties include chaperoning the broodmares of Heavensgate. Drifter V
and Gary have teamed up to start many of the Heavensgate offspring using the "passive"
horse handling methods of Buck Brannaman, Ray Hunt and Tom
Dorrance. Years of experience in natural horsemanship and study of the modern
day "horse whisperer's" have culminated in Gary's unique style of horsemanship.
The stallions of Heavensgate Arabian Farm represent three generations with concentrated bloodlines to Bask and Huckleberry Bey. For additional information, see the Breeding Program, Stallions and Recent_Foals pages.
